The year is 2008 (but also throughout 2009) and you've just had the best birthday party ever. It was a pool party with a ton of kids from high school and Mitch and Travis would throw you into the pool a bunch of times while Arthi and Kevin throw water balloons and blow out some of the pool cage screens.
I'm pretty sure you're dating Santiago, but that doesn't last long, and I think you'll be dating Kevin in a few months. Neither of them are your first kiss, instead, you'll kiss this random guy backstage at a theater you were volunteering at. He's older, making you think you're at least a little cool... except the kiss was extremely gross and you had to chug a friend's Starbucks drink to get rid of the nastiness that had settled into your mouth.
This seems a little silly, but I'd tell you to stop being afraid- ASK MITCH OUT. YOU BOTH LIKE EACH OTHER IMMENSELY BUT WON'T ADMIT IT AND IT'LL BE TOO LATE. Even if it doesn't work out, at least you tried and you won't be able to regret trying. Not trying is worse in all aspects of life.
You'll miss high school. A lot. Even though IB is torture, enjoy these days. Those 4 years go by faster than you can ever imagine. Try your best in school. You'll regret it later when you don't. Ask for help! No one will think you're stupid. (False: Mr. Pease will think you are, but he thinks everyone who isn't in accelerated math is challenged, and he's the biggest D-bag teacher you'll ever come across, so his opinion doesn't matter anyway- he just hates teaching) Don't let him affect you so much that you start doubting how smart you are and that you should drop out of IB (per his suggestion). Don't let it settle you into depression for the upcoming months.
Also, I realize this post has a lot to do with boys (go figure), but one last thing: forget about Matt. Be his friend, enjoy each other's company, but DO NOT spend your years pining away for him. He will be a jerk about it and later regret it and come crawling back to you (4 years later)... but don't be a victim. In the end, he's not as great as you thought. At all.
You'll become great friends with Taylor this year and although you guys don't talk much through college, she's still a great friend. You become close to Megan, who you love, but your depression will ultimately turn your parents against her and your friendship will fade fast, and it'll hurt. Don't let your friendship slip away!
You are beautiful and don't need to change. It's true, so don't forget it. Stop comparing yourself to others or letting the stupid boys tease you into over thinking- they are dumb and insecure themselves.
Please remember that you are an amazing friend, daughter and sister, although you slip up a lot due to stress, hormones and trying to figure out who the hell you are. That's okay- it's completely normal. Just strive to be a better version of yourself every day. Everything will work out- even when you think you've been defeated. You have an amazing future ahead. Keep making mistakes and growing, you will be perfectly fine.
